Two minutes, in my own words.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Salt Lake City, Utah, licensed in both Utah and Virginia. I am a native to Utah and spent 6 years living in the DC area. I love both states and love the people from Utah and Virginia even more!
Whether you are coming in by yourself or with your partner, I will help you find the light to illuminate the better path forward. I specialize in Couples Therapy as well as Individual Therapy in the Salt Lake City, UT area and love helping clients learn and use new skills to build a better life.
When appropriate, I utilize humor and make sure you leave with a smile on your face and a heart filled with hope. If you are comfortable, I invite my dog, Joey, to help you feel grounded and calm in session.
Couples come in to see me wanting to work on their relationship. Perhaps their communication has been suffering and they are not as connected as they used to be. It is also common they come in wanting to improve their intimacy, both emotional and sexual. I have helped dozens of couples in the Salt Lake City area heal from the unimaginable pains of infidelity. My work couples therapy is grounded in attachment theory, aimed towards improving communication, intimacy and closeness. I specialize in Gottman-level therapy for couples, helping them to improve their communication, build understanding of one another rather than criticizing one another. I use these methods to also help couples improve their emotional and sexual intimacy.
I have seen clients in the Salt Lake City area come in riddled with anxiety and depression from unrealistic expectations, break ups, new life transitions, loss, and problematic relationships. They may feel hopeless and helpless or stuck. I join with these clients and help them see the possibility of growth and change. I use various therapy models such as CBT, DBT, Solution-focused, Narrative, and Systemic to help clients confront their fear and feel empowered. I help clients correct negative or ineffective thought patterns to become the stronger, more capable versions of themselves.
Outside of the office, you'll find me spending time outside with Joey, going to the movies, and learning new skills and hobbies. I'm excited to work with you!
